All of these days are fun and exciting but I personally feel the most important day in the week following Thanksgiving is Giving Tuesday. #GivingTuesday first gained recognition in 2012 and is a global initiative that celebrates giving back to your community. This year Giving Tuesday falls on November 27, 2018, so mark your calendars!

Serving others is so important to me. I went to Padua Academy in Wilmington and am so thankful for their “Learning Through Service” program that taught me at a young age that I can make a difference. Now I proudly work for WSFS Bank where the motto is “We Stand For Service”. That does not only apply to serve our customers in our branches and banking offices. We also deeply rooted in strengthening the communities we serve. Our volunteer program, “Team WSFS” is what led me to become involved with the Mental Health Association in Delaware (MHA). Team WSFS has a goal to complete 13,000 hours of community service this year. I am proud that many of my hours are spent volunteering with MHA. I was recently elected to the 2019 MHA Board of Directors and I can’t wait to serve and make a difference with this amazing organization!

You might be asking yourself, “How can I help Mental Health Association in Delaware on Giving Tuesday?” Here are a few ideas:

1) Share your #MentalHealth story. You or someone you know may be facing a mental health struggle and we want everyone to know they are not alone and help is available! Read my previous blog post about my struggle with anxiety for a little inspiration.

2) Follow us and share our page on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. You never know who you might reach.

3) Donate directly to Mental Health Association in Delaware by clicking here. Your donations have an immediate and lasting impact. You can also give to us through the United Way of Delaware by searching for organization number 430.

4) Volunteer! Are you good at planning events and spreading awareness? Consider joining our Development Committee. We also have other opportunities to help at health and wellness fairs. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Laurie McArthur at 302-654-6833 or email lmcarthur@mhainde.org.

Tell us how you will give back this #GivingTuesday.
